2007-2008 Program of Work

Conduct research to assess the impact of the creative industries currently in Miami-Dade County:

  • Organize stakeholders’ roundtable event
  • Investigate private sector funding sources
  • Work with partner organizations and identified stakeholders to seek funding for a study of Miami-Dade County’s current creative industries’ resources, identifying sectors of those industries that are best positioned for further development

Identify and recruit individuals and businesses not currently active in creative industries:

  • Organize networking events
  • Conduct outreach campaign regarding the economic impact and importance of creative industries to Miami-Dade’s future economy and benchmark industries
  • Enhance Chamber website and develop linkage to creative industries’ news content
  • Encourage local government agencies to engage in the active and coordinated promotion of Miami-Dade’s creative industries through inbound and outbound national and international trade shows, etc.

Identify Miami-Dade’s competitive advantages to support, develop and attract creative industries:

  • Develop topical agenda for inclusion in Chamber’s legislative packet
  • Work to develop local “Creative Industries Advocates”
  • Demonstrate the economic impact of the creative industries so that local, county and state agencies and businesses have a rationale for allocating resources to this effort

Provide a forum for identifying and addressing concerns that are unique to cultural institutions in Miami-Dade County:

  • Develop and implement a plan to advocate for those issues that are identified
  • Enlist the support of the media to create an awareness of the importance of the cultural community and its economic impact in Miami-Dade County
