2008-2009 Goals
- Develop recommendations that ensure an efficient transit and mobility system linked to workforce needs.
- Develop an action plan to support business operations and alternatives that reduce congestion such as staggered business work hours, alternative modes of transportation, downtown loading/delivery zones and freight.
- Develop recommendations to ensure that efficient state-of-the-art traffic operations and management technologies are implemented such as traffic signal synchronization, open road tolling and managed lanes.
- Work with various partner organizations to integrate regional transportation plans and develop corresponding support strategies.
- Facilitate discussion and develop recommendations to engage the Chamber as a supporter and influencer of the various transportation and infrastructure funding alternatives such as protection of the State Transportation Trust Fund, federal re-authorization, state funding, local funding (sales tax and fares), and public/private partnerships.
- Support major transportation and infrastructure projects such as the Port Tunnel, MIC/Earlington Heights Connector, Orange Line and City of Miami Streetcar.
