Welcome to the website for the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Student Internship Program where you can benefit from using a wide variety of talented students ready and willing to positively impact your bottom line. The purpose of this internship program is to provide a system for matching college and university students with organizations seeking year round or summer internship opportunities. This program is a collaborative effort between the Chamber, private business, university and the university student.

This website is designed to provide information that you will need to become a partner. Specifically, you will be provided information about the following:

• Value of internships to the business community and learn how your business colleagues have met their hiring needs through internships.


• Value of internships to college and university students ... retaining top talent in our South Florida community.


• Ways to get started: matching for success while reducing your recruitment costs.


• Typical structure of internships at various colleges and universities in the South Florida community.


• Strategies for ensuring an effective partnership.

This program is offered to GMCC members at no cost. Through this website, any unit/manager within your organization that has an internship opportunity can list it, review an updated list of students seeking internship opportunities by respective college or university and be instantly linked with the student that has expressed an interest. The participating colleges and universities have been involved in the development of this program and are anxiously waiting for organizations to list internship opportunities.

According to CBS Market Watch, October 10, 2004, "The National Association of Colleges and Employers reports that 84 percent of companies, nonprofit groups and government offices maintain internship programs. Forty-five percent have hired interns into full-time positions."

We hope that you will partner with the Chamber, local colleges and universities and their student interns to provide workforce skill development opportunities for students and enjoy recruitment cost savings and direct access to a talent pool that can fill future vacancies you will have. As the current workforce ages and retires locally and nationally this internship program can provide a pipeline for immediate replacements in a hassle free format. We welcome your participation.
